About GB Marine Art

To share...

GB Marine Art was formed primarily to produce and market quality art reproductions from the paintings of Gordon Bauwens, one of Britain’s leading contemporary maritime artists. Our main aim is for fellow ship-lovers to share in the pleasure that this internationally renowned artist derives from the memorable maritime subjects and events he portrays in his paintings. By offering these works as high quality, individually-signed Lithographic and Giclee art prints, the considerable amount of care and time invested in the paintings can be appreciated by many more like-minded enthusiasts than would be possible for original paintings only. (For those interested in commissioning original paintings, please see our Commissions Page).

...and to serve

Being a family business enables GB Marine Art to provide a personal and dependable service for our customers. We are greatly encouraged to regularly receive communications expressing appreciation for our products and service. Our records also show that a considerable proportion of our orders are from previous customers, or by their personal recommendation.

We invite you to join the many delighted marine art enthusiasts around the world who know that GB Marine Art's quality reproductions and originals rate among the best.

  • You really are to be congratulated on your portrayal of No 534 - it truly is a magnificent piece of work. I intend to have Queen Mary framed in the same style as Home Waters and the two will look superb together.
    SP, Cardiff, Wales
  • I have received your prints and am truly delighted with them. I thought it a brilliant idea to depict the ships at a moment of history in each of their lives. I have quite a collection of aviation, railway and countryside prints, but your prints on the wall will take me out into the fresh air more than anything.
    EL, Leighton Buzzard, England.
  • I am writing to say my three prints of the QE2, Queen Mary and QE1 are marvellous. They are my best possessions.
    BS, Sydney, Australia
  • I had a wonderful surprise Christmas morning when I received the print of the Titanic. The picture brings fond memories of my childhood. This was the bay where I spent many happy days. I know it will be well admired and cause much conversation about times past.
    BS, Bromley, England.
  • I take this opportunity to express my absolute delight with the safe arrival of your Home Waters print. You are indeed a very talented artist and the realism created within your picture is very tangible. I look at your print and almost expect the mighty QE2 to come crashing through the glass at any moment.
    DP, Geilston Bay, Tasmania
  • Thank you for the wonderful painting of the SS Sir Walter Scott on Loch Katrine. This was the scene I had the pleasure of viewing with my own eyes while exploring Rob Roy country.
    DR, California, USA
  • My husband and I were particularly impressed with the print Welcome Home QE2. We had never been to Greenock previously and I must say you live in a beautiful part of the world. With the scenery and the famous QE2, you have created something that I know will give us a great deal of pleasure.
    PMJK, Redcar, England
  • The three prints I have are much admired and to me are outstanding. There are not many good ship artists in the world. Mr Bauwens must rank as the best.
    WM, Ontario, Canada

    GP, Tasmania
  • I am writing to acknowledge receipt of your limited edition print Aquitania - The Ship Beautiful and to express both my thanks and my admiration for your superb work; it is truly lovely. Thank you for keeping the engineers of Clydesides traditionally high standards alive.

  • I received your print Home Waters as a birthday present from my wife and I wanted to write and tell you how much pleasure it has given me. The painting captures a priceless moment in time, in which unfortunately I was unable to take part as I was abroad, but one I can now share.
    AM, Langbank, Scotland
  • Thank you very much for the magnificent Queen Elizabeth print. What a beautiful painting. You have captured the event of the great ship returning after her trials superbly. The detail is amazing.
    JH, Winchester, England
  • Gordon Bauwens is a rising star amongst maritime artists. His passion for ships illuminates his work.
    NT, Cornwall, UK
  • Thank you for your personal service by post from UK. I am very impressed with the print RMS Queen Mary, The Legend Begins.
    CH, Hornsby, Australia
  • I have just received your print of the Aquitania and felt I must write to say how delighted I am with it. It really took me back to holidays as a youngster before the war. I must add the Queen Mary and Queen Elizabeth now as well as one of your QE2 prints. Jets are all very well, but nothing will ever replace the style of these wonderful liners.
    TG, Weston super Mare, England
  • Home Waters hangs above our stairs and has prime position, as it is hanging over the main entry to our home. It 'looks a treat!' and is indeed a real conversation piece.
    DP, Tasmania
  • Thank you for the fine art print of Titanic received last week. Would you now send me a SS Sir Walter Scott. Thank you for such fine products and excellent service.
    AJW, Loughborough, England
  • Gordon has a superb eye for detail and captures the true spirit of the ships he paints.
    SMP, London, England
  • Congratulations on your magnificent paintings - you truly have a wonderful gift. I was transformed from age 86 to age 24 as I unrolled your print of Queen Mary. Thank you for bringing back such wonderful memories.
GR, Edmonton, Canada (GRs late husband served on one of the Clyde Shipping Cos tugs on the occasion depicted in the painting)
  • I have received the print of the beautiful Aquitania and regard it as a masterpiece.
    RR, Hobart, Tasmania
  • I already have your superb Waverley print and wish to order a SS Sir Walter Scott. Please let me know what other marine prints you have for sale.
    JA, High Wycombe, England
  • Many thanks for the prompt delivery of my copy of Welcome Home QE2. As I only posted the bank draft a few days ago, both your company and the respective postal services have really performed. May I wish you much strength to your painting arm in the future.
    DK, Transvaal, South Africa
  • Just a few lines to say we have added our latest QE2 ~ Transatlantic Arrival to our collection of your other prints. We just had to tell you how impressed we are with it. It is absolutely stunning and the attention to detail is incredible. We receive lots of compliments from visitors and have had so much pleasure from your pictures. Please accept our thanks and praises for your brilliant work.
    A & S C, Largs, Scotland
  • I remember standing outside the QE2's bookstore and seeing RMS Queen Elizabeth ~ Fit for a Queen displayed in the window. I listened to other passengers' comments - all favourable - and ended up purchasing the print before I left the ship. At some point I would like to own all of your prints, but for now wall-space is my limiting factor...
    DJA, Portland, USA
  • You have once again produced a superb painting, (QE2 ~ Transatlantic Arrival) which as usual looks like a colour slide taken yesterday. How you can produce such works of art is beyond me!
    IB, Chester, England
  • Thank you for sharing your passion for the great liners by producing these beautiful paintings. I do love ships and those of the Cunard Line in particular and was thrilled to find that your prints were available for sale. I am now the proud owner of five of your magnificent prints, four of which I purchased on the QE2.
    RP, Sacramento, USA
  • I have very much enjoyed your previous prints of QE2, (Welcome Home QE2 and Home Waters) and look forward to receiving the new QE2 ~ Transatlantic Arrival edition. I have just been on your website, which I found very interesting, and I would appreciate you putting my name against the Queen Mary 2 painting if it is ever produced as prints...
    DK, Colchester, England

Amongst our highest accolades:

"With a youth spent in Glasgow - a city with a lively arts tradition - and in the Clydeside region when it was still producing some of the world's most famous ships, it is no wonder that Gordon Bauwens should have been attracted to the field of maritime art. Devoting his considerable talent to depicting these ships in his own realistic and attractive style has earned him acclaim from admirers of his work, of whom I am one among many."

The late SIR JOHN BROWN - A chief designer of Queen Mary & Queen Elizabeth. Former Managing Director of the John Brown Shipyard, Clydebank.

"I may have dreamt up the ultimate ocean liner but only you could have captured QM2 on canvas as you have! Majesty at Sea is a wonderful painting..."

Stephen M. Payne OBE, Chief Designer of Queen Mary 2
